Hot Cars For 2010
A new year is always an exciting time in the automotive industry. Manufactures have been hard at work developing new cars to unleash onto the market. There is more importance than ever riding on the release and success of these new cars because of the poor economy. Each car company is hoping to have the newest, hottest car out there that can boost them back into the black. 2010 is no different all of the car companies have introduced new models, so lets take a look at some of the best!
Lets start with the BMW 3-series. This car has been on Car and Drivers top ten list for about 19 years running now. The 2010 model comes as a 2-door coupe, convertible, 4-door sedan and wagon. This incredibly versatile car can come with some incredible power up to 265 horsepower. A manual transmission has an average of 24 mpg, not too shabby for a sports model car.
Charge of the e-car
With electric vehicles vying to govern 20pc or more of the automotive market by 2020, SHANE HULGRAINE asks if the technology fuelling these vehicles can finally live up to expectations.
The electric car (e-car) has never been so relevant. From its humble beginnings in 1902 – that’s right, more than 100 years ago – when electric vehicles (e-vehicles) had a range of 18 miles and a top speed of 14mph, technology has advanced to such an extent to give us electric sports vehicles that can muster 0-60 in five seconds.
Solar Cars – from dream to reality
For years, the idea that a car could be powered directly by sunlight has been suggested as a future possibility. Universities have built solar powered racers – small, ultra-lightweight and cramped vehicles built with bicycle parts, but a practical car has remained a myth. Until now.
In France, Venturi – a specialist sports car manufacturer – have been developing a brand new three seater city car that can be purely powered by sunlight. Meanwhile, in India, electric car manufacturer Reva have been demonstrating a solar powered version of their four seat city car.
